BSS is able to provide training and cover throughout Cheshire and the North West.

Yes. Having a fully qualified TCM (Technically Competent Manager) on-site is now a legal obligation that waste management facilities must fully comply with. This was brought into place from the 1st of April 2019 where all sites must be able to provide details of the nominated COTC holder on-site. The minimum period is at least 20% of operating hours.

COTC cover is required for specific types of waste which include; clinical waste, commercial waste, hazardous waste, scrap metal, and various other types of waste too. Each type of waste should be dealt with accordingly for the safety of the COTC person and the people on-site.

Yes, failure to comply will lead to prosecution. Not having COTC cover is failing to comply with the latest health and safety laws and legislation. In order to comply, the TCM must be on-site for a minimum of 20% of your operating hours. Fines can be unlimited and if a serious accident or incident happens on-site with no TCM present, you may be sent to prison.
