What Is A Fire Risk Assessment?

A fire risk assessment is essentially an organised review of a building, done by a professional fire safety and protection company, to identify risks and hazards in the vicinity. Every inch of a room or building is covered to ensure it’s been inspected properly. The details and findings are recorded and presented back to the building owner or occupier.

•Identify potential risks and hazards throughout the property where fire risks many be prevalent.

The first part of the process is to ‘identify’. This means doing a thorough inspection of the office whilst logging all the potential risks and hazards. No stone is left unturned in this part of the process because we need to know what could cause issues in relation to fire.

•Decide who could be harmed and how. Also who is at the most risk currently.

The second step of the process is to ‘decide’ the next best steps based on our findings. In this part we look at who is affected by the threats and plan what the best thing to do about it is.

•Reduce these risks to a level that is as low as possible.

The third step is ‘reduce’ which means we look at reducing the risks. So we actually implement processes and directions in order to deal with the risks and hazards.

•Evaluate the safety precautions that need to be put in place and implement.

The fourth and final part of the process is ‘evaluate’. So, once the implementations have been put in place, we monitor how well they’re doing which involves regular site visits.
